Beautiful Day
I didn't do much today.....just took the Princess to visit my Mom.
The weather was perfect. My Mom and I took Ava to the park and for ice cream. Ava has gotten so big. 18 months flew by SO quickly. Last year at this time I was taking my two older girls to the park and Ava was hanging out in her baby sling!

So, she's growing up.....but she's still my baby.

What I can do in a half hour......
I am so happy that I got to sew tonight. After finishing off a simple pair of shorts for Ava I decided to go through my thrifted stash and see what I could cook up.
The shirt on the left side of the picture was the one I chose to work with. It cost $.50. Nothing special, just a simple button down top. The fabric is so light and gauzy, I thought I'd make it into a cute summer top for Ava. After a quick snip here and there, I threw some elastic in and VIOLA~

I was originally going to put sleeves on it, but decided instead to leave them off. I zig zagged the armholes and they did this neat little fluttery thing. I just thought it was cute, and I was happy I had decided against sleeves. I didn't use a pattern, I didn't measure anything, and it still came out looking like a shirt.
Miss Ava seems to like it, too.

Earth Day
A visit to the local kids museum a few days ago left me happy that "recycling" clothing (and so many other things!) is simply carrying on a long tradition!
The plaque said, "Immigrants were very frugal. They did not waste. After something was worn out it was used in a different way." A perfect ideal for Earth Day!
I rummaged around at the local thrift shops this week and found some great things. Now I need the time to actually DO something with them! I keep buying pillowcases with the intention of making them into dresses (or maybe pants?) for Ava. Sheets too! I have this dream of making myself some cute lounge pants.....
then maybe lounging in them. It's good to dream.

Daffodil days
- I can feel Spring in the air and I LOVE it. It's such a refreshing change from the cold, windy, rainy, HORRIBLE weather we were having last month. I love getting outside for long walks with the kids. It's the best exercise and it doesn't feel like exercise, you know? I started knitting a scarf. I am proud of the results so far. I wish I had more time to devote to knitting, because it is truly one of those hobbies that you can get completely engulfed in. I simply LOVE it. The baby likes to pull at the yarn, so I can only knit when she's not around, or while we're driving somewhere. That is, unless I'm the one driving. In which case I don't knit. Of course:-)

Easter.....
Addicted to pants!
I must make a pair every two days for my Miss Ava. I can't help it, they're so darn simple and it's a project I can easily start and finish in an hour. I stumbled upon the Wardrobe Refashion website and suddenly my "clothes to be refashioned" pile was way bigger than my fabric stash! I was in heaven! I grabbed a simple Gap button down dress shirt that no longer fits me and made the lil' Miss a pair of awesome pants. No before picture. Darn it. I really just grabbed the shirt and got to business! The fabric is insanely soft and lightweight, these could easily be worn in the middle of summer. I even left the chest pocket on and now its a pants pocket. Perfect. I was always a little nervous at the thought of cutting up my clothes, but no longer!
